BELL RINGING

Ever wanted to try your hand at ringing the church bells? We are a small but talented team of bell ringers who can show you the ropes. We meet for practice every Thursday evening at St Martin's at 7pm. Please introduce yourself at any of the regular services and ask for the Tower Captain or any of the regular team. You will be most welcome and pointed in the right direction!

ST MARTIN'S HOMEGROUP - click here for the current programme

Join us for Bible Study and Prayer at the home of Frank and Janet (see above link for address) 8.00pm - 9.30pm on the second and fourth Tuesdays in each month. Our programme usually runs for three months along a developing theme, but all are free to attend whichever meetings they can make.

BENEFICE PRAYER GROUP

We meet on the first Thursday of each month. Please contact Rev Richard Hicks - contact details are available in the Brampton Churches Newsletter. This is a benefice wide group, covering all ten parishes lying within Brampton Deanery.

CAFE CHURCH

Please note that Cafe Church will not be meeting in its current format for the time being. A Children's group is now regularly provided for at the main 9.30am service and there is an increasing amount of crossover between the format of the two services. Cafe Church might meet again in a different format in the future - and if so, details will be noted here.

FRIENDSHIP GROUP

A mixed group of all ages, male and female, who enjoy a super Sunday Carvery, on the second Sunday of each month. There is lots of chat, laughter and friendship. Lifts are always available. At the present time we meet at the venue for about 1pm. Costs are individual - there is always water on the table or you can choose to treat yourself if you wish.

We need numbers the Thursday before the Sunday (a list is always at the back of the Church) so we can advise the venue.

NIGHT LIGHT

An ecumenical Chrisitian group for children aged 8 and upwards. Held at The Methodist Church Hall, Brampton from 7.30pm - 9.00pm every second Friday in the month in term time. This November we will be hosting 'Ignite' - a once-a-term Deanery event for youngsters on what would usually be our 'Night Light' night. After November we will be back to our usual Night Light Sessions, all details the same as previously. For this month however - it does transform into Ignite, which means the session is from 7-9pm and is just for secondary school children ie year 7s upwards (ie 11 year olds upwards). The next 'Ignite' will be in the spring term and will probably be in Lanercost and shouldn't clash with Night Light.

PASTORAL VISITING SCHEME

A number of members of our congregation form a team of visitors who are available to spend a little time with those in our community who need such support.

At the moment, those who are visited tend to be elderly folk who, for a variety of reasons, can no longer attend church, but who value the link which the visiting team provides. We are also available to anyone, whether a member/former member of the church or not, who requests a visit.

Home Communions are arranged on request, and in addition, four times a year we bring together, those who wish to take Communion in a group service. This is held in the small cottage adjacent to the church, and is followed by tea and home-made cakes, and is regarded as a highlight by many.

Anyone wishing to arrange a visit should contact Mrs. Orena James on 016977 2636.

WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP - click here for the 2011/12 programme

We are a group of ladies who meet to talk in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We enjoy a regular programme of presentations on a wide variety of subjects. Our membership covers all ages and whilst we draw mainly from the congregations of the various local churches you do not need to be a member of any church to come along.

We meet the second Wednesday of each month from September through to May (our AGM and season finale) at 7.30pm in our cottage between the church and the antiques centre. Our subs for the year are £3 and then 50p each meeting for tea and biscuits!

The money left at the end of the season goes to charities to which we agree. This last year we donated £50 to the Jigsaw Appeal (Eden Valley Children's Hospice) and also to the Air Ambulance. We are a very happy, friendly group. ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN.
